Team Info

The Redskins began playing in the NFL in 1933 as the Boston Braves and then the Boston Redskins, before becoming the Washington Redskins in 1937. The franchise history is littered with some of the brightest stars ever to shine in the NFL and championships have regularly found their way to America's capital. Before the advent of the Super Bowl, the Redskins won NFL championships in 1937 and 1942. They picked up Super Bowl titles in 1983 (vs. Miami in first Super Bowl shown live in the UK), 1988 and 1992. In 2004 Washington decided to turn the clock back by tempting head coach Joe Gibbs - the man that led them to those victories - out of retirement. However, Gibbs could not bring the glory back to the America's capital, and after his retirement in January 2007 the team appointed first-time head coach Jim Zorn as their new leader,. Zorn's first season resulted in an 8-8 record for the Redskins.
