Team Info
The Buccaneers made their NFL debut in 1976, but proceeded to lose a record 26 games in a row over the next two years. Tampa Bay finally won their last two games of the 1977 season and then shocked the NFL by reaching the NFC Championship game in 1980. The rest of that decade brought eight losing seasons but recent times have seen vast improvements from the Buccaneers. In January 2003, Tampa Bay capped a run of five playoff appearances in six years by becoming Super Bowl champions with a 48-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Victory completed a remarkable rags-to-riches journey for the Buccaneers and their fans. Jon Gruden was the head coach for that Super Bowl victory, but he was discarded by the team's ownership following a disappointing 2008 season and replaced by Raheem Morris. In his first season, Morris will have the opportunity to showcase his young team in front of a British audience, when the Buccaneers host the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium in an International Series game on October 25th, 2009. This will also mark the chance for the Glazer family - owners of the Buccaneers - to show off their NFL team to fans of their UK football team - Manchester United.
