Team Info

Began playing in the American Football League in 1960 as the New York Titans. Changed name to Jets in 1963 and joined the NFL in 1970. The Jets became the first AFL team to win the Super Bowl when they shocked the heavily favored Baltimore Colts but they have not returned to the finals since that victory in 1969. The Jets last reached the playoffs in 2006 - head coach Eric Mangini's first season with the team. In 2007 the team could only manage four victories, but they came close to a return to the playoffs in 2008 as Brett Favre led the club to a 9-7 mark. With Rex Ryan bringing several defensive additions to the Jets, New York could be primed for a playoff run in 2009.
