Team Info
Prior to the birth of the Texans, the city of Houston last boasted an NFL team in 1996 before the Oilers relocated to Nashville and became the Tennessee Titans. The NFL awarded Houston a new franchise in 2000, and the team started playing in 2002, winning four games, including the first in club history against the Dallas Cowboys on opening weekend. Head coach Gary Kubiak took over in 2006 and had Houston competing in the tough AFC South division with a team best 8-8 record in 2007. With young quarterback Matt Schaub, running back Steve Slaton and talented receiver Andre Johnson on offense, the Texans have playoff ambitions for 2009, particularly as they ended the 2008 campaign with four straight wins to post an 8-8 mark.
